Joellyn, Ron, Terry and Cathy
Ron Davis and Terry (Air Force buddies from 1972)
We spent last night at Cherry Creek State Park in Denver.  The highlight of the evening was getting to see Air Force friends (Ron and Jo Davis)  that we haven't seen in almost 40 years.  It was so nice to see them and catch up on our lives in the last few years.  We are now grandparents and the last time we were together, we were just kids ourselves.  So many good memories.  Today we traveled to Mesa Verde and will be here for the next few days.  This area is rich in Indian history.  Tomorrow we will tour the old ruins in Mesa Verde National Park.

We are in Breckenridge, Co.  It is so beautiful here.  The sky touches the snow capped mountains.  We are staying at Tiger Run RV Resort and when we checked in, it was like a ghost town.  But, by the weekend it is full of people.  Most of the stores and restaurants are closed for the months of April and May and open Memorial Weekend.  We drove to Vail and just took in the beauty on Thurs.  You can't imagine how beautiful!!!!  Yesterday, we drove to Denver, about one hour away, and had a nice visit with my cousin and her family.  Susan (daughter of Mary Burgbacher Carpenter) prepared lunch for us.  We got to visit with her son Josh, who is a student at Georgia Tech in Alanta.  He is home for the summer.  After lunch, Susan and her husband Carl gave us a grand tour of Denver and we stopped at a art show in downtown.  We ended up the day with dinner at a restaurant with a view of down town Denver.  The winds were so strong, we were forced to go inside.  Thank you Susan and Carl for a wonderful day. Today we drove to the top of Loveland Pass.  We were at the top of the mountain at the Continental Divide.  Cold and Windy!!!!  No guardrails and straight down.  We were glad we got to see it, but sure was happy to get back down  Tomorrow we will take a 6 mile bike ride and end the day with a glass of wine and two aleve!!!!   We will leave here on Tues. and go to Cherry Creek State Park and get to see old Air Force friends that we haven't seen in 40 years!!!!!  I just hope we all recognize each other.

We are here in Amarillo, Tx.  It was a long hard drive from Kerrville.  When we got here it was 100 degrees and a cold front went through here and now I have a cold!!!!!  We opened our windows and we froze to death. Today was around 70 degrees and last night got down to below 50!!!!!   It is so flat here and all you see are oil wells and wind mills.  We will be leaving for Colorado City tomorrow and end up in the Rocky Mountains for the holiday.

We left Houston area on Wed. and are in the San Antonio area staying at Kerrville, Tx.  We are at a park along the Guadalupe River.  We are in the hill country of Texas.  Yesterday we drove to San Antonio and toured the Alamo and River Street.  We took a boat ride that gave you a tour of the River Street area and of course I wanted to eat at a Mexican restaurant.  The park we are staying at has a saloon here and live music.  So, that is our evening stop before bedtime.  We are leaving tomorrow and going north and will end up at Denver for Memorial Day.  Next stop Amarillo, Tx
